WOMEN OF STYLE: “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” recently ended at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, leaving many wondering just what the Costume Institute’s Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton have up their sleeves to top the record-breaking show. It looks like two influential women in fashion will be in the spotlight in 2012. According to sources, the Costume Institute’s next spring exhibit will focus on the work of Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli. Further details about the exhibition could not be learned. The Met declined to comment.

The willingness to date for money is not limited to beleaguered young women struggling to pay off debt. An increasing number of gay male students have also taken to the web in the past several years searching for wealthy benefactors. NJ prosecutors: Hide man's ID in gay webcam case

Prosecutors say the identity of a man recorded on a webcam in a gay intimate encounter with a New Jersey university student who killed himself should remain a secret.  The Middlesex County prosecutor's office filed a motion Monday asking a judge to withhold the name of the man, identified only as M.B. Clementi killed himself last September after his encounter with M.B. was transmitted online. His suicide sparked national discussion about bullying.  Ravi's lawyers say they believe M.B. has information that could help their client's case but they don't know his name.

Barbecued Eggplant with Miso Glaze

Sometimes, the dish that stands out in a great meal isn't the entrée or even the dessert. In my experience, the taste that lingers on the palate (and in my memory) is the very first bite I take. At the Ember Room, a restaurant in Midtown Manhattan, that was a deceptively simple plate of barbecued eggplant that tasted like it had been slow-roasted for hours. Its flavors were so perfect that I had to speak to chef Ian Chalermkittichai about his creation. Chef Ian, a Bangkok native, revealed that the secret of this elegant dish is that it's broiled in the oven, the direct heat source from above providing a heavy, steady heat that both tenderizes the eggplant and caramelizes its sweet-savory miso glaze.
