Half Neapolitan/half American, Marella Agnelli had the great fortune to marry one of Italy's richest men, Giovanni Agnelli..owner of the Fiat car company.
The fashion illustrator, Joe Eules said of her, "She has the most gorgeous neck in the world". Indeed that was true. Marella's swan like neck accentuated clothing as very few could compete with. She is a living mannequin.
A member of the elite group of Truman Capote's swans he said of her, "If Babe Paley and Marella Agnelli were in a Tiffany's window, Marella would be more expensive". Quite a compliment considering not only Babe's legendary style but the fact that Babe was Truman's best friend at the time.
Aside from being a fashion leader, Marella was quite accomplised by not only assisting fashion editors at Vouge select the right pictures of print, but she also created an award winning textile line.
She was first admitted to the International Best Dressed List in 1963 and eventually became a member of The Hall Of Fame.
Marella makes few appearances these days, preferring to spend her time with grandchildren and friends.
