COST CUTTING BY BRATPRINCE

As most of you know, Gary FINALLY got a job after eight long months (a good one too). It is good to be a two income family again.

Still, throughout all of this I have learned valuable lessons.

As money got tighter and tighter, I had to spend more time at places like Wal-Mart rather than the more expensive grocery stores.
I'm not saying that I LOVE Wal-Mart (it alone has destroyed more small businesses than any company I can think of) but I was really left with no choice. I could go to expensive grocery store and walk out with four bags for $100 or I could go to Wal Mart and have a trunkload of groceries for the same price.

Never in my life would I have dreamed that I would be buying "generic products". However, staring at the prices of food and cleaning supplies, the generics started to look pretty good!

What has shocked me is that the generics are often the exact same or surprisingly sometimes better than the regular name brands. I can't believe I am buying generic milk, cheese, bleach, canned goods, etc.....and yet I am almost always pleasantly surprised.

Now that Gary and I rebuild our finances, I've decided to stick with those generics that I never would have considered.

My biggest lesson in ALL of this is that a penny saved is a penny earned.
