Christmas In My Family by Bratprince
Another wonderful Christmas gone by. Because aside from my Aunt Donna and two cousins who are quite far away, I really have no family to speak of..unless you count my Dad and...well...let's not we spent it with Gary's family.
Gary's family has always been wonderful to me. I am treated like a brother-in-law, an uncle, etc. One of Gary's sisters threw our wedding shower and rehearsal dinner in San Diego when we got married a few years ago.
We did Christmas very differntly this year. Everyone donated to charity and gave that as a gift to each other. The kids got money...but the adults all donated. We received lovely charitable donations to homeless shelters, soup kitchens and a Catholic nursing facility that took care of Gary's mother as she became sick and died. Gary and I gave five ducks and two chickens to everyone. Those ducks and chickens will keep a family in a far away village alive and even have the potential from breeding to help the whole village. It was all very lovely.
We had a spledid meal at Gary's sisters and then all drove to our house and had dessert and opened gifts. NEVER, EVER try to cook two pies and two cheesecakes in one day. Christmas Eve. was an all day baking affair for me and I may never bake again.
Our house did look lovely and I am including a pic. of my Christmas table. My rock crystal obelisks, that I got from a friend in Brazil were beautiful and looked like ice sculptures on the table.
I hope you had as much fun as we did and your holiday was filled with love, joy, peace and visions of an optimistic future.
Gary and I are going to cheat a little and do a bit of after Christmas shopping on Wednesday. He has his eye on a black Hugo Boss suit and I am after this fab. cashmere cardigan sweater I saw at Nordstroms.....ah well...you have to have a little something tangible.
Oh yes...and Astrid the internet kitty star...Karma the old grumpy cat...Paley the hyper "just past the puppy stage" and Roman...the absolutely ANCIENT white schnauzer all got gifts from Santa.
All my best, Bratprince.
