Okay, so Gary scores another point in the "perfect husband" category.
Bed sheets are not something to be taken lightly. Yes, you can buy perfectly decent sheets at any department store or Wal-Mart. However, you get what you pay for.
Years ago, I knew a woman that worked in a wholesale showroom that sold linens to retailers. She told me about how she discovered "expensive" sheets and never looked back. I think at the time I was perfectly happy with 350 thread count American made sheets and knew no better. She convinced me to buy 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton..made in Italy sheets for all the beds in the house. Not a cheap endeavor.
I have a number of sets...but two of the sets I don't really like. They are beige. I know, I know..so what. Still, I prefer white or ivory sheets. Call it a quirk.
The current set on my bed has started to become a bit threadbare. Soft and comfortable as all get out...but slowly falling apart.
Today Gary surprised me with a brand new GORGEOUS set. Ivory...1,200 thread count....Egyptian cotton...Italian made. I didn't ask for them...he just got them for me. Two of the pillowcases are hand embroidered with magnificent scrolls.
That's just Gary. He brings me yummy dinners from his restaurant....he often brings me flowers...and now surprise sheets. 18 years together and he NEVER forgets that to keep a relationship alive you have to surprise and delight your partner.
I am a lucky man!
(P.S. And just so you know...expense of the surprise has nothing to do with it. Gary knows that I love Dairy Queen ice cream cones and at times when we are in the car he just goes there and buys me one. I'm as happy with my ice cream cone as I am with zillion dollar sheets)!
