Mona Lisa's Bones Should Be Left Alone, Begs Princess Descended From Leonardo's Muse

Besides picking out Philip Treacy hats to wear to certain royal weddings, what do princesses really have on their plates these days? Well, in Italy, Natalia Guicciardini Strozzi -- princess, actress, winemaker, and former ballerina -- is leading the charge in opposition to plans to exhume the remains of Lisa Gherardini, Strozzi's forebear and the Renaissance Florentine woman whom many believe to be the subject of Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa." (The woman is better known as Lisa del Giocondo, thanks to her early marriage to a merchant of that surname.)  Click here.

That's Why I Married Him, by Bratprince

Okay, so Gary scores another point in the "perfect husband" category.

Bed sheets are not something to be taken lightly.  Yes, you can buy perfectly decent sheets at any department store or Wal-Mart.  However, you get what you pay for.

Years ago, I knew a woman that worked in a wholesale showroom that sold linens to retailers.  She told me about how she discovered "expensive" sheets and never looked back.  I think at the time I was perfectly happy with 350 thread count American made sheets and knew no better.  She convinced me to buy 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton..made in Italy sheets for all the beds in the house.  Not a cheap endeavor.

Since then, Gary and I refuse to sleep (at least at home) on anything less.  In fact, the more you wash GREAT sheets the softer they get.  I've had house guests threaten to steal the sheets off the bed and take them home.

Often, Gary will take the sheets off the beds...wash them...and return them directly.

I have a number of sets...but two of the sets I don't really like.  They are beige.  I know, I know..so what.  Still, I prefer white or ivory sheets.  Call it a quirk.

The current set on my bed has started to become a bit threadbare.  Soft and comfortable as all get out...but slowly falling apart.

Today Gary surprised me with a brand new GORGEOUS set.  Ivory...1,200 thread count....Egyptian cotton...Italian made.  I didn't ask for them...he just got them for me.  Two of the pillowcases are hand embroidered with magnificent scrolls.

That's just Gary.  He brings me yummy dinners from his restaurant....he often brings me flowers...and now surprise sheets.  18 years together and he NEVER forgets that to keep a relationship alive you have to surprise and delight your partner.

I am a lucky man!

Yours, Bratprince

(P.S.  And just so you know...expense of the surprise has nothing to do with it.  Gary knows that I love Dairy Queen ice cream cones and at times when we are in the car he just goes there and buys me one.  I'm as happy with my ice cream cone as I am with zillion dollar sheets)!

Chocolate Biscuit Cake

This cake is so good that Prince William chose it as his groom's cake for the royal wedding. Click here.  (From Bratprince:  Royal Chef Darren McGrady (chef to HRH the Queen and then to Princess Diana and children) appeared on Oprah today with this recipe.  HRH William chose this as the groom's cake.  Darren is a really super guy.  He lived in Dallas for a while and I met him on numerous occasions.  I have his fabulous and fun to read cookbook (signed of course) called 'Eating Royally, Recipes and Remembrances From A Palace Kitchen).  I made this recipe for a dinner party and it went over spendidly.  You can order McVitie's tea biscuits online at Amazon.com.  Remember, get the tea biscuits, not the digestives).

For My Fans of Jewelry: Kate wears the Famous Cartier Halo Tiara

The Cartier Halo Tiara was made in 1936. It was originally purchased by the Duke of York for his Duchess, who would become King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother a few weeks later. After having been passed down two generations, the Halo Tiara was worn today by the beautiful Catherine for her wedding with Prince William. (From Bratprince:  The tiara is worth an estimated $200,000 U.S., however because of its royal ownership would sell for far higher.  It should be also noted, this is not part of the U.K. Crown Jewels, but personally owned by Queen Elizabeth II.).

From Bratprince: Today is Arbor Day. Help the Environment and plant a tree over the weekend!

Now THAT'S a fruitcake! Palace reveals pix of the giant pastry

Made of 17 individual cakes that make up eight tiers, it's decorated with "up to 900 individually iced flowers" and a garland design that matches the architecture of Buckingham Palace's Picture Gallery, the room in which 650 lucky guests will get a piece. Click here.
